How to Clean Your Wailuku Athletic Shoes

Quick answer

To clean your Wailuku athletic shoes, use a soft brush, mild soap, and cool water. Avoid machine washing to protect the breathable mesh and leather details.

Step-by-step cleaning guide

1. Remove loose dirt and laces: Take out the laces and insoles. Use a soft brush or dry cloth to gently brush off loose dirt from the mesh and leather. Check the insoles for wear; replace if they no longer provide cushioning.
2. Prepare a mild cleaning solution: Mix a small amount of mild laundry detergent or dish soap with cool water. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, as these can damage the mesh and leather. Test the solution on an inconspicuous spot first to ensure it doesn't discolor the leather.
3. Spot clean with a soft cloth or brush: Dip a soft cloth or brush into the soapy water, then gently scrub stained areas. Avoid scrubbing too hard on the mesh to prevent fraying. For stubborn stains, let the solution sit for 5 minutes before rinsing.
4. Rinse and air dry: Use a damp cloth to remove soap residue. Pat the shoes with a dry towel, then let them air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Stuff with newspaper to help them keep their shape. Never use a dryer or heater; heat can warp the cushioning and leather.
